This is a different view of the main square and city center in the City of Comayagua. It is a colonial city in Honduras, some 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Tegucigalpa and sits at an elevation of about 1,950 feet above sea level. It is the capital of the Comayagua Department of Honduras, with a population of about 152,000 people. The city is noted for its wealth of Spanish Colonial architecture, and has become a national and international draw for tourism. It is on the list of The 30 Wonders of Honduras. Each week Comayagua receives almost 200 travelers interested in its colonial heritage.
