Description
Las Flores is a small town located in the Honduran department of Lempira. The town is 200 meters away from the paved road. It was first called Las Flores de Santa Bárbara, honoring the image of the saint of that place. It was granted the category of municipality in January 1869. The population in 2015 was estimated at about 9,800 people, with about 90% of them are cross-breed of native Indians and Spanish settlers. Because of the small size of the community, the inhabitants have a very peaceful life that it is very normal for kids to gather at the central park or on streets very late at night.
Most of the kids that live in the town only go to school there. After they graduate from primary school they move to the nearest city, Santa Rosa de Copan, where education is more efficient.
It took me about 1 hour to visit the town and meet few of the locals.
This is an image of another typical house in the town.
