Description
The Town of Ojojona in Honduras has this artsy feel to many of its streets as depicted by these extremely large size murals painted on various walls in residential streets as well as in its small commercial and tourist district. If you look close enough you can see that these murals are painted on stucco walls (you can clearly see the extreme grainy nature of these paintings), making the painting process more difficult and more impressive.
As you know, older stucco is essentially an exterior type cement plaster material, a mix of sand, Portland cement, lime and water. Sometimes proprietary additives are added for strength and stability, something that is not evident in most Honduran construction. As you can imagine, due to the highly grainy nature of stucco, it makes painting such beautiful and detailed art work on it an extremely difficult and painful process (as described to me by one of the artists in town).
All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software.
