Description
The Place de la Concorde is one of the major public squares in Paris, France, and the largest square in the French capital. It is located at the eastern end of the Champs-Élysées. For more info on it, please refer to my previous images with the title "Place De La Concorde".
At each corner of the octagonal square there stands a statue representing a French town. This specific one shown here represents the Town of Strasbourg (located at the northeast corner of the square on the Rue de Rivoli side. It was designed by James Pradier, who took his model to be Juliette Drouet, who was his mistress before becoming Victor Hugo's . The Statue of Strasbourg was for a long time veiled with a black crêpe and bloomed as a reminder of the mourning of Alsace-Lorraine, a region that was annexed by the German Empire back in 1871.
All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software.
