Description
This is the military school where the young Napoleon Bonaparte studied back in 1784 to 1786; he trained and graduated as an artillery officer.
The school was founded by Louis XV to train young cadets (coming from poor families) in the royal army following Frances lacklustre victory in the War of the Austrian Succession in 1748. If you examine the details, this is a very impressive building and magnificently decorated. Today, the building houses a training school for French army officers. Attendance to this school today is mandatory for achieving field officers positions in France, which includes the Institute of Advanced Studies in National Defense and the War School.
