Description
Elevador da Glória is the best known and most popular of the three cable cars in the City of Lisbon. It connects Restauradores Square with Rua San Pedro de Alcántara in Bairro Alto. The Elevador da Glória was opened to the public on 24 October 1885. It is a tram in the classical sense, but also referred to a "lift" and an "elevator". The “lifts or elevators” in Lisbon are basically funiculars that help locals and tourist climb up the steep and long slopes that are so characteristic in Lisbon.
At the top part of the the Gloria, in Bairro Alto, there are some magnificent views over Lisbon from the San Pedro de Alcántara viewpoint (this is where I shot my series of images titled "views Over Lisbon" in this collection.
All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software.
