Description
This is a close-up image of Sand Dune Arch composed to one side of the arch. It really gave me the feeling of someone is rising-up from the dead to prove it is indeed alive.
Sand Dune Arch is encountered at the end of the sandy trail in the Devil's Garden area. As the name implies, the arch is in a sandy area and has quite a bit of sand around it, which is due to the accumulation of wind-driven sand at its base. The arch is flanked by two large sandstone fins and sits in the shade for most of the day (hence a well balanced light around it). Many visitors take their shoes off and enjoy the cooler sand on their bare feet; and you would have to wait quite a long time for kids (and adults) to get out of the frame before you could take a picture! A real test of a photographer's patience. The end of the trail shortly after Sand Dune Arch is impassable (see my previous images).
All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software.
