Description
After spending the entire one day walking and photographing the Trocadero area with its large square, its gardens, fountains, sculptures and statues, and then crossing the bridge to the Eiffel Tower and beyond, we walked towards the area known as Les Invalides, or the National Residence of the Invalides.
This area essentially is a is a complex of buildings containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France. It also contains a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans. The buildings also house the military museum of the Army of France, the Musdes Plans-Reliefs, and the MusdHistoire Contemporaine, as well as the burial site for some of Frances war heroes, notably Napoleon Bonaparte.
As you can see from this image, night time had already fallen and entry to the complex was not allowed even when met with a very friendly security guard (my Canadian charm combined with my very limited French vocabulary, and the fact that I was carrying a tripod in hand, all worked against me). A visit to this place during the daylight hours was on the books anyway. More of those images coming to a screen near you in the next few weeks.
