Description
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I had to turn to what I would call "isolation" photography. I created my own happy space with various objects that are dear to my heart and started exploring macro imaging. Needless to say, it was much more difficult than I thought but I had LOTS of fun creating the images in this series. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
This is an image of the... you guessed it right.... part of the Period Table, developed by Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev who published the first recognizable periodic table in 1869. It was developed mainly to illustrate periodic trends of the then-known elements. There is a whole history of development of the Periodic Table on the internet for those of you who are interested.
My question is - how many of you can name at least 40 elements from memory (and in order)? And do you ever wonder where names like Niobium, Dubnium, Halfnium and Seaborgium come from? Just ask a chemist and an environmental engineer; I'm sure they would know!
All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software.
